The two education concepts according to Paulo Freire are the banking concept and problem-solving concept. In his analysis, he claims that the banking concept of education is not in any way beneficial to students. Specifically, he argues that the famous “banking” concept of education is useless, and ineffective, so teachers should not use this type of concept in their teaching curriculum (Freire & Macedo, n.d.). However, based on his own perspective, utilizing a “problem-solving” method allows for both the teacher and the student to learn from one another and requires much more critical thinking and in-depth knowledge about the lesson being taught. While reading his essay, I was able to come to a conclusion that our education system is all about the letter grade.
