Although nurse turn over may have its positive sides which involves challenges to improving work environment, and enthusiasm of newly hired nurses, the negative aspects of it are more disadvantageous to health care settings. Faraz, A. (2017) stipulates that nurse turnover has become a threat to the healthcare industry for years and this remains a setback to patients and healthcare organizations (Faraz, 2017).

According to Stamps, Beales and Toor (2019), the average hospital is estimated to suffer losses of around $350,000 on an annual basis per percentage rise in yearly nurse turnover. Experience has shown that the average rate of turnover for nurses is 17.1% per year, and in the past two years, the rate of nurse turnover have increased from 16.8% in 2017 to 17.2% in 2018. Nurse turnover is an undesirable trend for healthcare employers, and it is expensive, disruptive, and threatening to the quality of care and patient safety. Nurses all over the United States are switching jobs because of the realism that nursing is a very difficult and taxing job.
