Psychology in My Life

My career in the healthcare field, and my desire to work in this field grew stronger after I completed my Certified Nursing Assistance (CNA) certification, and since then, I have been working as a CNA in a group home. I enjoy helping people greatly because it gives me a highly rewarding feeling. I’m very excited to further my career in nursing field, and since this is the kind of experience I would need in the future as a registered nurse who aspires to be a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Psychological Concept will provide me the confidence I will need to become a DNP. However, I want to do something in my career that is challenging, interesting, and makes a difference in people’s lives on a daily basis. I believe that being a DPN is one of the most interesting and growing careers available today, and I enjoy the difference I could make in a patient’s recuperation experience.

One of the psychological concepts I would apply in nursing filed is memory. In the study of Licht et al. (2017), memory is explained as the brain processes which involved encoding, storing, and retrieving information. Encoding is the process of bringing data into memory; storage is the process of storing data in memory; and retrieval is the process of reactivating or reconstructing data from memory. I quite believe that I cannot do without all these because going to school; writing exams, researching along with long papers are all that I cannot do without throughout my classes to DNP. Memorizing and storing data is the only method I’d use to reach the level of expertise I’m looking for. Memory is an important concept because in the nursing profession, it’s possible that I’ll have to memorize all that I learned years ago and apply them in order for me to move ahead in the class. Organizing information into manageable chunks using various techniques such as mnemonic devices will help me recall something that is normally difficult for me to remember.

Problem-solving is additional concept I will apply during my nursing career. Since I will need to solve problems and make choices, psychology will play an important role in my life. I’ll be able to tell the difference between normal and abnormal behaviour, recognize stress and stressors in my life, and people’s lives. ……………
