Psychology in My Life

$3.00

In the nursing field, my desire to work and help others grew stronger after completing my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and working as a CNA in a group home, giving me a highly rewarding feeling. I enjoy helping people greatly because it provides me with a sense of fulfillment. I’m very excited to further my career in the nursing field since this is the kind of experience I will need in the future as a registered nurse who aspires to become a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

Understanding psychological concepts will provide me with the confidence I need to achieve my goal of becoming a DNP. However, I aspire to pursue a career that is both challenging and rewarding, making a meaningful impact on people’s lives on a daily basis. I firmly believe that being a DNP is one of the most compelling and rapidly evolving careers available today, and I am enthusiastic about the positive difference I could make in a patient’s recovery experience.

One of the psychological concepts I intend to apply in the nursing field is memory. In the study conducted by Licht et al. (2017), memory is explained as the brain processes that involve encoding, storing, and retrieving information. Encoding refers to the process of inputting data into memory, storage involves retaining data in memory, and retrieval entails reactivating or reconstructing data from memory (Licht et al., 2017). I strongly believe that these processes are indispensable because throughout my journey from school to DNP, tasks such as attending classes, taking exams, conducting research, and writing lengthy papers all require the use of memory. Memorization and data retention are the primary methods I will employ to attain the desired level of expertise in this nursing field.

Memory holds significant importance in the nursing profession, as there might be instances where I need to recall and apply knowledge learned years ago in order to progress academically
